What to Expect on Your Wedding Day: "A Timeline of Events"

Your wedding day is undoubtedly one of the most memorable and special days of your life. As an engaged couple, you may have been dreaming about this day for months or even years. However, with so many moving parts and emotions running high, it's only natural to feel a bit overwhelmed. That's why I've put together a comprehensive timeline of events to help you navigate through your wedding day with ease and grace. I’m talking about from the moment you wake up to the final dance of the night, here's what you can expect on your wedding day.

Getting Ready: The morning of your wedding day is all about getting ready and pampering yourself. Start by waking up early to give yourself plenty of time to relax and enjoy the process. Have a light breakfast, and make sure to hydrate throughout the day. This will help you stay energized and calm. The getting ready moments are filled with a whirlwind of emotions, from nervous excitement to pure joy. I thrive on capturing these raw and authentic emotions, freezing them in time for you to relive and cherish forever.

Ceremony: The ceremony is the heart and soul of your wedding day. It's the moment when you and your partner exchange vows and commit to spending the rest of your lives together. Depending on your religious or cultural traditions, the ceremony can vary in length and format. Make sure to communicate with your officiant and photographer to discuss any special rituals or readings you would like to include. Remember to take a deep breath, savor the moment, and let the emotions flow. As your wedding photographer, I feel honored to witness and capture these heartfelt exchanges of vows, the tender glances, and the emotions that fill the air. It's a privilege to be a part of such a significant milestone in your lives.

Cocktail Hour: Following the ceremony, it's time to celebrate with your guests during the cocktail hour, as well as get your couples portraits done as the reception area is prepared. This is a time for your guests to mingle, enjoy some refreshments, and congratulate the newlyweds. It's a great opportunity for you and your partner to take a few moments alone to soak in the joy and excitement of the day. During couples portraits, I’ll capture you and your partners’ natural beauty and genuine expressions. I want y’all to feel comfortable and at ease, allowing your love to shine through. Whether it's a candid laugh, a tender embrace, or a stolen kiss, these genuine moments are what make your portraits truly special. After your portraits, don't forget to try some of the delicious hors d'oeuvres and signature cocktails that you carefully selected for your guests.

Reception: The reception is where the real party begins, and also my favorite part of the day. As you enter the reception venue, you will be greeted by applause and cheers from your loved ones. This is the perfect moment to make your grand entrance as a married couple. After the first dance, enjoy a delicious meal with your guests (don’t worry, no open mouthed chewing shots lol, this is when I take my break and make sure my equipment is ready for the next part of the night), and listen to heartfelt speeches from your closest family and friends.

Cutting the Cake and Bouquet Toss: Traditionally, cutting the cake and the bouquet toss are two iconic moments during the reception. Cutting the cake symbolizes the first task you will tackle together as a married couple. The bouquet toss is a fun tradition where the bride tosses her bouquet, symbolizing good luck and the next person to get married. These moments are not only fun but also provide great photo opportunities. Now it’s time to get your dancing shoes on, because dance floor is where the real magic happens! It's a place where inhibitions are shed, and everyone lets loose. I absolutely love capturing the energy, the laughter, and the pure happiness that fills the dance floor (and I get to show off my non existent dancing skills).

Final Dance and Farewell: As the night comes to an end, it's time for your final dance as a couple. Choose a meaningful song that reflects your journey together. This dance represents the beginning of your life as a married couple and is a beautiful way to conclude your wedding day. As you bid farewell to your guests, make sure to thank them for being a part of your special day. Consider a fun and memorable exit, such as a sparkler send-off or a vintage car departure. The grand exit signifies the end of your wedding day, It's a symbolic closure to a day filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
